This International Women\’s Day, we want to share one of our clients stories with you:
Mia*, is an on-street prostituted woman, who has been a client with Rahab for a while. She’s been to a drug rehabilitation centre in the past, which she unfortunately had to leave shortly after detoxing, and so her life has remained chaotic.
We\’ve continued to support her through our Night Outreach teams. On one of the occasions when we met her again recently, Mia told us she is sofa surfing again. When one of our teams met her in the summer of 2018, they were able to give her some snacks and health supplies, and they were able to have an in-depth conversation about her previous experience with rehab and how she found her faith.
At the beginning of 2019, Mia has told our Rahab team that she’s once again ready to pursue moving on from . Even going so far as to say that she\’s scared of where she\’ll end up if she stays in this lifestyle for much longer.
Rahab is trying to work in partnership with the same rehabilitation centre that she went to before, which through the relationship and safety she already experience there will give Mia the best opportunity for positive change and freedom from her addiction possible.
Over our time knowing Mia, our team has seen such a transformation in her character, and we have even had the joy of being able to share her hopes for a future without addiction, homelessness, or sex work.
Rahab will continue to support Mia beyond her time at rehab.
